Welcome to our blog! As most of you know, Chris will be in Afghanistan for most of 2010 and Jess will be wedding planning! We thought this would be an easy way to keep everyone posted on both of our adventures!

We all scream for (homemade) Ice Cream!

My family always makes homemade ice cream at least once during the Summer and yesterday was that day.  This time the flavors were Strawberry, Peach and Banana and it’s not made with those flavored syrups…this is the real thing!  I planned on picking a favorite but I really loved them all!  

Today I decided to do a little research on Ice Cream recpies and came across some great ones on Food Network.  Next year’s flavors- Ginger, Lavender and Honey Vanilla.  I just don’t know if I could bring myself to try the Spicy Beet or Sweet Potato! 

    

Funny People

I saw Funny People yesterday and to be honest, I didn’t think it was all that funny.  (Sorry Adam, I still love you.)  I was expecting it to keep me laughing the entire time, similar to The Hangover, but that really wasn’t the case.  Of course I guess it’s hard to keep anyone laughing for almost two and a half hours.  That felt especially long on a beautiful Summer afternoon!  Did anyone else see it this weekend? What did you think?

Take the Alternate Route!

Last night I went to the Albemarle County Fair and stopped at Dr. Ho’s Humble Pie on the way…YUM!! I had never been before but now I will go back often!  They have great pizza, beer, wine and live music on Tuesday & Wednesday.

We hung out with some farm animals, played a few fair games, had a funnel cake and listened to some really great music sponsored by 106.1 The Corner.  The Alternate Routes were my favorite They were as awesome as the pizza…I can’t wait to download some of their music.

Sippin’ Into Sunset

Tonight Chris and I are meeting his brother and sister-in-law at Sweeley Estate Winery in Madison for some Friday evening wine tasting!  Every Friday they offer tastings & snacks on their patio and stay open until 8pm.  I haven’t been there before and am looking forward to trying some of their wines!

Tents Are Intense

I need to buy a tent this weekend- any suggestions/favorites?  I keep looking at things online but there are just too many options! It hurts my head!  Looking for something big enough for 4+ people that works in bad weather but isn’t crazy expensive because it’s not like it will get used that much!

Beach Bash!

Can’t make it to the beach this Summer? Mark your calendars for The X Lounge Summer Beach Bash…Friday, August 14th! Unfortunately I will miss it because Chris & I will be in Vermont but I think it will be a gerat time!

Brew Ridge Trail Music Festival

I met a couple of guys at the networking event plast night who are involved with the Brew Ridge Trail Music Festival.  I think I mentioned it before but now it’s just right around the corner- Saturday, August 22nd at Devil’s Backbone Brewing Compnay- and after talking with them about it, I am convinced that it will be a great time! Great music + local beer- you really can’t go wrong!
